Off to the Islands

Aloha! We are backing our bags for the islands; Sardinia, Italy and Holland. My bubba & Mi will play festivals and other good shows in late july and august, while preparing for a busy fall. Big plans are about to unfold. We also found these two playing in the streets. They are from Virginia, and here’s how we enjoyed their visit.

Last night’s Pow Wow was a Ka-poww! With champagne, whipped cream and steamy windows, we celebrated the release of How it’s done in Italy at Bartof café, surrounded by sweet peoples on the first day of spring. We were warm and happy, all of us. The occasion gave us a great opportunity to introduce our new fabulous bass player Ida, who came to us heavenly like an angel on a boat; she is truly a blessing. Mia ran off with a rock band some time ago we must admit. She now only plays with us on happy chance meetings.. But it’s all good.

Soon we leave with our newborn records on another adventure, sharing our vocal chords and showing off our favorite dresses, all thanks to Italy and My bubba & Mi. Watch out don’t pout!

We are all squirrels in each our corner now. Copenhagen is cold and we stay inside doing arts and crafts for our record, stamping the covers and looking at maps. My is learning to play the guitar. We have stacks of records waiting for us in Italy, still hot black and sticky from the press, and Bubba is on her way there to put all the pieces together. And check up on We were never being boring to see how our tour is coming along. In Holland Beep beep back up the truck (www.beepbeep.nl) are getting ready to embrace their first shipment. Our record will be released the 25th of march in Copenhagen, and then we will travel with it through Europe for about a month, to give you all some longed for lullabies. It is called How it’s done in Italy.

It all started when Bubba moved into an apartment with two other girls in Copenhagen. She and My kept each other company by singing and playing music (so tender that the neighbors never seemed to be bothered). When the third girl moved out - not because of the music, but to get a bigger place for her and her snakes - Mia moved in. She plays various instruments, but is an organ master if you will. And one could say the curry is a bit hotter now, but the nice people in their hallway seem to enjoy this sweet trio, even if rehearsals take place in the girls' kitchen before breakfast or after midnight.

One night, during one of their first shows last summer, an Italian café owner was biking through Copenhagen. He heard their singing, was intrigued and followed it ‘til he found them, and after the concert he told the girls they had to come and play at his place. One thing led to another and then another. And then some. One year later, back from a magical Italy tour, My Bubba & Mi are on a quick summer break to make arrangements for their first album. Soon they will be back in the peaceful vineyards to record. Until then all their time is spent fondling banjos and listening through windows, dreaming of barn houses and prohibition days; all dreams that will land on their record. When spring comes all of Europe will sleep with their melodies soft in their ears, and sleep good, as they tour the first continent after releasing.

My Bubba and Mi are signed with the Italian indie label we were never being boring collective, and soon more.
